When you’ve got a project that requires a colossal-size segmental retaining wall (SRW), call for Bronco, the new heavyweight wall system from VERSA-LOK. Weighing in at 4,500 pounds and displaying 14 square feet of face area, Bronco has the heft and coverage to tackle any job you can throw at it.

Bronco will revolutionize the construction of supersize walls. Its near-vertical construction, variable bond and a minimum radius of 17 feet make Bronco far more versatile than other comparable products. Bronco builds walls up to 10 feet tall without soil reinforcement, making it ideal for projects with excavation constraints. And with a unique four-panel, natural-stone appearance, Bronco is the most attractive random-pattern large-block SRW system available.

Traditional Installation

Bronco is wet-cast using approximately 1.25 cubic yards of concrete per unit. It’s installed in much the same way as traditional SRW systems. No concrete footings are required; all that’s needed is an 8-inch leveling pad of granular roadbase material or lean concrete. Voids are filled with drainage aggregate.

No special tools are required for installation. Steel-cable “pick rings” are cast into the top and back of the unit for easy placement using appropriate lifting equipment. Alignment knobs molded into the top of units and channels molded into the bottom ensure correct near-vertical positioning and allow for tight, variable-bond construction. Cap units are designed
to allow for landscaping to the face of the wall at the top. After installation, the natural-stone wall face may be stained for a permanent, maintenance-free finish.
