VERSA-LOK Columns Rise to the Occasion
Add aesthetic interest to your next landscaping project by including VERSA-LOK columns, either freestanding or as part of a larger structure. With proper design, columns can be used as highlight elements or corner features within retaining or freestanding walls.
You can use columns to bring stately elegance to a project, add the finishing touch to an informal backyard seat wall, or visually break up a long expanse of wall. And because solid VERSA-LOK units are easily modified on site, they make columns and other hardscape features easy to install, ensuring that walls, terraces, stairs and columns all present a consistent appearance. VERSA-LOK solid units are easily configured to make columns 20 inches square or 36 inches square. (A structural engineer should be consulted to design reinforcement for columns taller than 4 feet.)
But columns can serve as more than decorative landscape fixtures. Beyond their aesthetic appeal they have many functional applications. Because VERSA-LOK columns have a hollow vertical column at their center, they easily accommodate wiring and can function as lampposts. They also can be used as facing around pergola leg supports. Where a fence is needed, either for fall protection at the top of a retaining wall or as a freestanding boundary marker, VERSA-LOK columns, with proper structural design, can be used as structural supports between sections of fencing. Using columns in this way not only contributes to the structural stability of the fence, but also makes it look more integrated into the surrounding hardscape.
When used for fall protection, or whenever their height exceeds 4 feet, VERSA-LOK columns should include structural reinforcement designed by a qualified engineer.
In commercial projects, VERSA-LOK columns can be used to frame signage. They provide an attractive, structurally sound framing for large commercial signs, such as for retail malls.
